Ingredients

For the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:

  • 1 large onion, cut into strips
  • 1.5 green bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 1.5 cups vegan ground beef [such as Gardein] or substitute with mushrooms
  • 5 slices vegan cheese [such as Field Roast Chao brand]
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp Lawry’s Seasoning Salt [or 1 tsp regular salt]

For Serving:

  • 2 hoagie rolls, cut in half

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, sauté the onion strips until translucent and browned, about 5-10 minutes. Add the green pepper strips and cook until softened.

  3. Add the vegan beef and spices.
  4. Sauté until the vegan beef is browned and cooked through.

  5. Prepare the hoagie rolls and cheese.
  6. Place hoagie rolls with a slice of vegan cheese each in the oven until crispy inside.

  7. Melt cheese over the filling.
  8. Top the filling with remaining cheese slices, cover, and cook until melted. Mix well.

  9. Assemble the sandwiches.
  10. Spoon the filling onto the hoagie rolls. Serve with sides.
