Ingredients

For the Caramelized Onions:

  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ medium onion, diced small
  • ½ teaspoon light brown sugar
  • ½ medium apple, peeled & diced small
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of salt, to taste

For the Brie Bites:

  • 15 pre-made phyllo cups
  • 6-8 oz brie cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1 ½ teaspoons fresh thyme leaves or dried thyme leaves
  • 1-2 Tablespoons pecans, chopped (optional)
  • honey, to drizzle (optional)

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the Onions: Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté onions until browned, sprinkle with brown sugar, then add apple and garlic. Cook until fragrant.
  2. Prepare Brie Bites: Preheat oven. Place phyllo cups on baking pan, add brie cubes to each cup, spoon apple-onion mixture on top. Bake until cheese melts.
  3. Finish and Serve: Sprinkle with thyme, pecans, and honey. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Placing the brie cheese in the freezer while caramelizing the onions makes it easier to cut.
  • Take your time caramelizing the onions for the best flavor.
  • Optional: Add chopped nuts and honey for extra flavor and texture.
