Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for cooking the sweet potato wedges evenly.
  2. Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Wash, dry, and optionally peel the sweet potatoes. Then slice each potato in half lengthwise, place it flat-side down on the chopping board, and cut at an angle into ¾ to 1-inch thick wedges.
  3. Soak for Crispiness (Optional): For extra crispy results, soak the wedges in cold water for 10-15 minutes to remove excess starch. After soaking, thoroughly dry them. Optionally, toss the dried wedges with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch or potato starch to create a crisp shell when air fried.
  4. Season the Wedges: Transfer the wedges to a large mixing bowl, drizzle with olive or avocado oil, and add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Toss well to evenly coat all wedges with the seasoning.
  5. Arrange in Air Fryer Basket: Spread the seasoned wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each wedge for proper airflow and crispiness. Avoid overcrowding by cooking in batches if necessary.
  6. Air Fry: Cook the sweet potato wedges for 15-18 minutes at 375°F (190°C), flipping them halfway through the cooking time. They should be tender on the inside with crispy golden brown edges when done.
