Ingredients

Wings:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split into flats and drummettes

Hot Honey Butter:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ⅓ cup hot sauce
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wings: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken wings and toss to coat them fully. Alternatively, you can combine ingredients and wings in a ziplock bag and shake to coat evenly.
  2. Preheat and Cook Wings: Heat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the wings in an even layer inside the air fryer basket to ensure they cook evenly. Cook the wings for 12 minutes.
  3. Make the Hot Honey Butter Sauce: While the wings are cooking, prepare the sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted unsalted butter, hot sauce, honey, and ¾ teaspoon kosher salt. Taste and adjust with more salt if desired.
  4. Brush Wings with Sauce and Finish Cooking: After the initial 12 minutes of cooking, open the air fryer and generously brush both sides of the wings with the hot honey butter sauce. Return the wings to the air fryer and cook for an additional 4 minutes, or until the wings are thoroughly cooked and nicely glazed.
  5. Serve: Remove wings from the air fryer and serve immediately. Offer any extra hot honey butter sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Storage Instructions: Store leftover wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat wings in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for 3-5 minutes to restore their crispiness.
